The Woodstock Nursery School is seeking a nurturing Assistant Teacher for our after care program beginning in September 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Assistant Teacher’s top responsibility is to support the lead Teacher/Director in the classroom, primarily in the afternoons. The support needed during this time is to be the lead care of the children while the Director tends to the office duties. The Assistant Teacher is responsible of reinforcing the classroom expectations to best set up the children for success. The children’s needs include, creating a peaceful rest time environment, assisting with basic care including bathroom visits and providing the example of a calm, safe individual. The Assistant Teacher will prepare lessons provided by the Lead Teacher.
This position is 15 hours per week, at a salary commensurate with experience. Position hours still being finalized, but likely 12:45-4:00pm Tuesday-Thursday and Friday mornings from 7:30am-12:45pm.
Once the children have slept or had their rest time, the Assistant Teacher will choose books for each child relating to their interests. After books, puzzles or other relaxing materials may be provided. The schedule then includes a snack and pack-up. The children get picked up by 4pm.
On Fridays, the Assistant Teacher's responsibility will be to follow the lead of the head teacher during the morning, preschool portion of the day. There is no after care offered on Fridays.
